Eine der größten Kykladeninseln (196 km², 13.700 Einwohner) ist das zentral gelegen Paros. Ähnlich wie auf dem benachbarten Naxos gibt es Siedlungsspuren seit der Bronzezeit. In der Antike war parischer Marmor, der unterirdisch abgebaut wurde, für seine extreme Transluzenz bekannt. Bei Marathi, unweit des höchsten Berges Profitis Ilias/ Agii Pantes (771 m), kann man auf eigene Faust in einen der Stollen hinabsteigen.

Heute lebt Paros dank schöner Strände in hohem Maße vom Tourismus. Es hat einen Binnenflughafen, im Hafen des Hauptortes Parikia kreuzen sich viele Fährlinien. Besonders sehenswert ist dort die Kreuzkuppelkirche Panagia Ekatontapiliani aus dem 6. Jahrhundert sowie das Kastro-Viertel mit einem venezianischen Turm, für den antike Bauteile verwendet wurden. 

Schon von der Ferne sieht man den an einem Hang liegenden und weiß leuchtenden ehemaligen Hauptort Lefkes im Inselinneren, der als das schönste Dorf der Insel gilt. Ein byzantinischer Weg führt zur Küste bei Marpissa.

Zweiter wichtiger Küstenort ist das frühere Fischerdorf Naoussa mit einem idyllischen kleinen Bootshafen samt Kastell und einem verwinkeltem Ortskern voller Flair. Am nahen Kolymbithres-Strand bilden große Steinbrocken eine bizarre Kulisse. Lange Sandstrände gibt es im Süden der Insel bei Drios.

Von den zahlreichen Klöstern Paros’ sind einige noch bewohnt, etwa Longovardas und das Nonnenkloster Christou Dasous. Südlich von Naoussa liegt das sogenannte "Schmetterlingstal" mit Faltern eines Bärenspinners.
